A few days ago Ed told me he was starting to get back to work on the strips. Hopefully that means he's doing OK.

@ Comic: Woah, plot twist! Hmmm... I wonder wher captain Logan knew that their Markalight was an empty shell... and where the real Markalight is. Alas, I can't make sense out of this move: There was little chance of deceiving the so called "snake with wings" and a secret Markalight would not be of any use for bluffing, the secrecy would only be an advantage if they wanted to use it. But against whom or what? Whoomera? Very bad idea, given the power level of the allies of the Whoomeranians. The Vord? AFAIU, a Markalight is a weapon against planets, probably not suitable against ships, besides, they'd need to avoid hitting any planet behind the ships and if the Vord knew of the Markalight, fake or not, they would probably have left Whoomera, so bluffing them with an empty shell (and no real Markalight whatsoever) would not have worked. So... if I haven't missed something, it's most likely something that new.

OK, Johnryk, well, I don't have anything concrete to report so far, but I've sent Ed an e-mail and I'm hoping he'll be able to answer soon. A friend of his keeps a blog, and I think if anything serious did happen to him she'd say. Apart from that, though, my communication channels with him are pretty narrow, unfortunately.
OK, I've now heard back from Ed. You'll be pleased to hear he's alive and well, more or less... Shortly after he wrote to me last it seems he suffered a painful accident which put him out of commission for a while (I'm sure he'll give you the gory details himself if he sees fit), but he's now recuperating and says he hopes to get back to the comics in about a week or so.
To the rear end that said I'm special, he is right! As far as he knows the world does not rotate around this comic. That said, I do not have to put up with his bull! I am retired and am three times older than he is! I think he is a teenage pimple.
All I can say is, if you're three times older than Ed I'd love to know how you managed to live that long. Dreamwalk Journal, the first webcomic with Ed Kline art, first appeared in 2005. If Ed was a teenager how could he have been making comics 13 years ago??? (Edit) And if I was a teenager now, I'd have been reading webcomics with adult content at the age of 5.

Wonderful news that Ed is on the mend and may begin work on the comic again. It's sounds like the poor guy has had a run of misfortunes as of late. Here's hoping it's clear sailing from now on. Having gone through some prolonged recoveries from illnesses and accidents over the years, I can somewhat relate to Ed's problems. Keep 'em flying, buddy.

The letter appears at approximately 18:47 minutes in. I think I've read it somewhere. The events referred to all happened a long time before I'd ever heard of Ed's comics.
Latest update. Ed says he's completed the artwork for the next page, we just need to brainstorm the dialogue. So, not long now!

Yeah... but now it's been another 10 days with no word... sigh. I just hope Ed's not holding back about some more serious underlying problem.
I share that sentiment regarding Ed. Although I know from personal experience how various things can get in the way of updates (especially if one gets out of the habit of regular posting).
Sad to say this comic is dead, it is no more, it has joined the Choir Invisible, this is a dead comic. Too bad, as it was one of the greatest ones. I mourn it's passing.

Latest update. Ed suffered a setback related to his injury and he's been in hospital again but tells me he's been active in Second Life... which sadly I'm not.
He did send me the art for the next Whoomera page and I e-mailed some dialogue suggestions back, but he hasn't been able to get back to work on the comic yet.
I'd really rather he get healthy before pushing on with his story. It's not the end of the world if it takes a few more weeks or months. His health is priority one.

Well, still no news on Ed, I'm afraid. I really miss the routine of helping on the comics, and now it looks like the Tumblr mirror is going to be deleted because of the occasional nudity. Sigh.
It is sad that Tumblur has thumbed it's nose at artists in general. Hope they suffer great financial hardships due to it. I for one will be making it a point to not purchase from those that advertise on the site and taking time to tell the vendor why I am not buying from them.
Tumblr is now saying it won't actually ban blogs with Adult content but it'll block any sensitive content from public view. Which begs the question of why they can't just do what Blogspot does and put a warning page up instead of blocking the pages completely.
The really stupid part is that there are numerous pages on the Storm Over Whoomera and Nightshade the Merrry Widow blogs that have blatant nudity and/or sex but are NOT blocked. Why not? Because Tumblr's software apparently can't recognise nudity and sex if the participants are aliens or genetic hybrids with non-human skin colour etc...

Latest news: Ed is alive and well and on the move from California to Arizona. In his words, "Everything's up in the air, and no work is getting done. Hopefully things will all straightened out soon....."

August, 2020 is almost here and still no SOW ... Lee hasn't even posted in a while. I'm still keeping this comic on my bookmarks list, though. Who knows, maybe we'll get a Christmas present. It could happen.

hello....I still live....(might be good news...)
however,bad news...6 months ago I had my computer upgraded.I thought I saved all my files.....and discovered I had saved all the titles to the files....not the files. I lost everything. fortunately I have backups on most of it, although I will have to start from the beginning. but I lost EVERYTHING concerning "storm over whoomera" its gone. nothing remains except the pages on line. everything else is gone.there won't be any more....unless I want to start from the beginning.....which took 6 years to do.
however, I have the resources for a new comic which I will begin as soon as I have everything completed to start.
Just discovered your comic, Were you a big fan of Keith Laumer's "Retief" books? Cause if so, I think he would approve of your Story very much.

Well, there's bad news and hopefully less-bad news...
It now seems that Ed has lost ALL of the files from the somics, meaning there are no data sets for the creation of the characters or environments. So I'm sorry to say that Storm Over Whoomera is now officially cancelled.
The hopefully less-bad news is that Ed is now working on a new story provisionally entitled "The Fifth Corner of the World", which will be an anthropomorphic crime caper set in a fictionalized Asia-Pacific region. With any luck you'll be seeing that here on ComicFury some time around next spring. Till then, take care of yourselves. Be seeing you.

Hi everyone......or anyone still reading this.....I'm sorry,but my health has been bad.I won't go into details,just had a bad stroke about 4 years ago. it took all my knowledge and experience of 3-D art away. I don't remember how to use the programs anymore. However, a month ago I started playing around with my 3-D modeling program and began making a head like Shalanarra's. It's inspired me to begin working on the stuff of my stories again. Maybe I'll get lucky and I'll get up to speed on everything.
Anyway, I wanted to let you know what I'm doing.......Now, I have to find Lee............
Yeah, I'm still here, though lazier than ever. I do want to get back to working with Ed, though, just as soon as we get a few account issues sorted out...
Kind of funny finding this comic after watching a Netflix series that handled the "Earth animals as aliens" concept so much worse. Really liked what's here so far. Hope Ed's doing better, it'd be nice to see this updating again.
